Rarity is a label that helps describe how a card printing fits into a set's card pool. In the Lorcana Pack Simulator, rarity is also one of the fields used to group cards, sort checklists, summarize pulls, and decide which imported cards are eligible for certain simulated pack slots.
The important distinction is that rarity and treatment are not always the same thing. A card can have a normal rarity and also have a foil printing. A special printing such as Enchanted or Iconic can be represented as a rarity in the imported data, while other visual finishes can be represented through treatment fields.
The normal rarity ladder
The regular ladder currently represented by the app includes Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, and Legendary. These labels are used throughout set pages, pack summaries, collection filters, and card previews. The simulator sorts stronger pulls ahead of everyday cards in recap views, but sorting does not change what a card is.
| Rarity | What it means | How the simulator uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Common | Regular gameplay rarity used for the most frequent lower-rarity slots in the simulator. | Used in the fixed Common slots and can also appear as a foil printing when present in card data. |
| Uncommon | Regular gameplay rarity above Common. | Used in the fixed Uncommon slots and can appear as a foil printing. |
| Rare | Regular rare-or-higher rarity. | Eligible for the simulator's rare-plus slots and higher-rarity foil outcomes. |
| Super Rare | Regular rarity above Rare. | Eligible for rare-plus slots and shown ahead of Rare in rarity-sorted views. |
| Legendary | High regular rarity represented in pack-pullable set data. | Eligible for rare-plus slots; Legendary foil pulls are treated as notable outcomes. |
| Epic | Special rarity represented only when imported data contains it. | Handled through set-aware simulator rules where supported by current data. |
| Enchanted | Collector-focused special printing rarity. | Appears through the foil or special slot in this simulator when the selected set has Enchanted cards. |
| Iconic | Scarce special rarity represented when imported set data contains it. | Treated as a very scarce special-slot outcome in the current simulator model. |
Special rarities and visual treatments
Some imported printings use labels such as Enchanted, Iconic, or Epic. The app treats those as special outcomes because they are visually or structurally different from ordinary regular-rarity cards. They are not shown as guaranteed outcomes, and the site does not claim an official probability for them.
Foil and cold-foil data is handled separately by the treatment utilities. That is why a card might appear as a Legendary in a rarity count while also receiving a Legendary Foil treatment label in a pack recap or collection display.
How to inspect rarity on the site
Set pages show rarity breakdowns and card grids from imported set data. The collection tracker lets you filter a selected set by rarity, ownership, and text search. Card search can also find cards by terms such as a rarity name, although search results are loaded dynamically after page load rather than stored as separate indexable result pages.
